From Creativity to Viability: How Idea Generation Labs Empower Young Innovators

Every successful business starts with a simple spark—a creative idea born from curiosity, frustration, or hope for change. But the journey from that first spark to a viable project often requires structure, teamwork, and guidance. That’s where the Idea Generation Labs of the Become Busy Xelerator (BBX) project come in.
Where Ideas Take Shape
The Idea Generation Labs mark the starting point of the BBX journey. They bring together young people from diverse backgrounds to explore entrepreneurship through creativity, collaboration, and social awareness. Guided by trained youth workers, participants are encouraged to identify real-life challenges within their communities and brainstorm solutions that combine innovation with social value.
The Labs are more than workshops—they are safe, inclusive spaces where creativity thrives and failure is viewed as part of the process. Through design-thinking exercises, role-play, and team-based problem solving, participants learn to transform ideas into structured project concepts.
Co-Creation and Collaboration

A distinctive feature of the BBX approach is its emphasis on co-creation. Rather than teaching entrepreneurship as an individual pursuit, the Labs promote collective innovation. Youth participants work in groups, share personal experiences, and learn from one another’s perspectives. This intercultural exchange mirrors the diversity of modern Europe and helps build cross-border understanding.
Each Lab follows a cycle of inspiration → ideation → validation. Participants start by identifying pressing needs in the green, tech, or social sectors. They then brainstorm potential solutions, assess their feasibility, and finally present them to mentors and peers for feedback. This process encourages analytical thinking and prepares them for later stages of the Xelerator.
Skills for the Future
The Labs are designed not only to produce innovative ideas but also to build key competencies aligned with the EU’s EntreComp framework. Participants enhance their creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, and digital literacy—skills essential for navigating a rapidly changing labor market. Youth workers also gain practical tools to support entrepreneurship education in non-formal settings.

Seeds of Sustainable Impact
By the end of each Idea Generation Lab, participants leave with more than just an idea—they carry a sense of ownership and purpose. Many of these concepts evolve into pilot projects within the next phases of BBX, supported by mentoring, digital resources, and demo days.
These Labs prove that youth creativity is a renewable resource. When guided through the right structures, it becomes the driving force of a more innovative, inclusive, and sustainable Europe.
